AbstractHomogeneity of liquid distribution across the entire sprayer boom is one of the most important factors affecting the efficacy of chemical treatments for crop protection. However, this can be easily ignored and have serious repercussions, such as minimizing control and maximizing costs and environmental harm. With increasing pressure on sugarcane producers to remain economically viable and increase their environmental stewardship by improving their chemical application, correctly operating sprayers are essential. This paper highlights the use of a portable horizontal patternator as a tool for on farm testing of herbicide application and outflow consistency over boom width.
