Fisheries long term monitoring program : Fish Age Estimation Review

Abstract

This literature review aims to give an overview of fish age estimation and the practice of applying quality assurance and quality control to such estimations. This review does not consider otolith preparation or the development of species-specific age estimation methods. Rather, the focus is on the standardised data types required for age estimation and the current theory and practice of the application of quality assurance/quality control to each of these.
