Abstract

Strawberry plants are grown during winter in south-east Queensland and in Florida. These two areas share similar climates, agronomic systems, cultivars and diseases, with fruit production often affected by rain and diseases. In these two growing areas, the fruit can be damaged directly by rain, with water soaking, surface etching and cracking. There can also be an effect on pollination, with distorted berries following short periods of wet weather.
