Insects and mites associated with stored products in Queensland. 4. Acarina and Pseudoscorpiones

Abstract

These are three parts of a series containing the results of a survey in 1960-64 of the insects and mites that attack stored products in Queensland, and the information in them resembles in scope and arrangement that given in the first part [RAE A 55 1364]. The following paragraphs are based on parts of the author's summaries. Among 33 species of Acarina of 14 families and two species of Pseudoscorpiones of one family, Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Schr.) was the most prevalent and, with its predator complex, was the only species found regularly in large aggregations. Control measures are rarely necessary, and cases of annoyance to man are uncommon.
