Abstract

The bacterial genus Helicobacter is a member of the Campylobacteriales in the Epsilonproteobacteria subphylum, and is comprised of organisms that are morphologically similar to Campylobacter. The term ‘campylobacteria’ is used to encompass the genera Campylobacter, Arcobacter, Helicobacter and Anaerobiospirillum. Helicobacter was separated from the genus Campylobacter in 1989.
