Abstract

Bacterial leaf spot disease of cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana) and a wild gooseberry (P. virginiana f. macrophysa) occur in south-eastern Queensland. The bacteria consistently
isolated from diseased tissue were shown to belong to the genus Xanthomonas Dowson, 1939.
