Egg parasites of Heliothis punctigera and H. armigera in south- eastern Queensland

Abstract

A survey was made in south-eastern Queensland in 1971-72 of the egg parasites of Heliothis punctigera Wllgr. and H. armigera (Hb.) on various crops, ornamental plants and weeds. The percentage parasitism of all the eggs collected averaged 8.0, and a species of Telenomus close to T. triptus Nixon was bred from 92.7% of the parasitised eggs. The other egg parasites found were Trichogramma australicum Gir., Trichogrammatoidea flava Gir. and an unidentified Trichogrammatid close to Trichogramma.
