Previous genomic studies identified chromosomal inversions and a major quantitative trait locus associated with blush colour. Further investigation identified a SNP within a MYB114-like transcription factor strongly associated with blush intensity. Current work focuses on validating candidate markers in breeding populations to support marker-assisted selection and accelerate development of commercially attractive mango cultivars.
