Abstract

The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) is supporting the growth of Queensland’s aquaculture industry to energise regional communities and provide environmentally sustainable seafood for domestic and export markets. Aquaculture offers Indigenous communities opportunities for community-led economic development through sea Country assets, local knowledge, and production of high-value culturally unique products. Through the Queensland Aquaculture Transformation Program, the Deadly Aquaculture project is providing targeted extension services to First Nations communities, building partnerships and helping transform aquaculture ideas into viable enterprises.
