Abstract

Ashley Bacon, Deputy Director-General Agriculture at the Department of Primary Industries, will discuss the transformative journey government and industry have embarked on to shape a thriving future for primary industries. Together they have co-designed a 25-year blueprint, Primary Industries Prosper 2050, which sets out the vision and priorities for achieving the government’s big goal of increasing primary production output to $30 billion by 2030. Prosper 2050 will be supported by a series of 5-year regional, timber and fisheries action plans that identify local solutions to drive future investment, create jobs and support regional economies. This is a collaborative approach that will be co-invested and co-delivered through strong public and private sector partnerships supporting significant change today for the next generation.
