Abstract

The soil seed bank persistence of Parthenium hysterophorus was investigated in field and laboratory trials. A buried packet field trial (experiment 1) investigated the viability of seed in packets buried at four depths, over 10 years of retrievals, in two soil types and with two ground cover treatments. Seed viability was also assessed in artificially aged in laboratory controlled ageing tests (experiments 2.1 and 2.2). The 1000 weight of seed (experiment 3) from two locations was used to determine the amount of rain required for 50% of surface seed to be incorporated into different soil types. This file contains the raw data from these trials to support the publication of the results.
