The inhibitor 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP) targets the final step of methanogenesis and effectively suppresses methane production (Duval & Kindermann, 2012). However, frequent supplementation presents barriers to adoption in extensive grazing systems. Controlled-release technology has the potential for application in long-term methane mitigation management strategies. This work investigates the feasibility of a novel controlled-release system for 3-NOP.
