Regional macadamia variety trials - Series 2Export / Share Stephenson, R. (2006) Regional macadamia variety trials - Series 2. Project Report. Horticulture Australia Ltd.
AbstractSuccessful commercial macadamia production depends on selecting the best varieties for particular environments. Since yields are often variable, it is difficult to predict how a variety will perform in a new orchard. Local knowledge is invaluable as environment, soils and management profoundly affect yield and quality. Nevertheless, regional variety trials provide valuable information on which variety selection decisions can be based. Separate trials were established at four sites: near Nambucca in central New South Wales with 14 varieties, at Forest Glen in south-east Queensland with 10 varieties, and in the Bundaberg region with 36 varieties at Winfield and 27 varieties at Hinkler Park.
