Cattle Handling SystemsExport / Share Petherick, J. C. (1996) Cattle Handling Systems. Project Report. Meat & Livestock Australia.
AbstractThis project aimed to improve enterprise profitability and reduce stress on cattle by completing development and commercialisation of a cow/calf separator, walk-over scale and weight-based drafting system. These systems were developed to facilitate improved weaning procedures and the collection of liveweight data for management decision-making. All of the devices are intended to operate in conjunction with a trap-mustering management system. Although these systems have mainly been developed for application in extensive beef production in north Australian, it is apparent that the technology could also easily be transferred to other aspects of the cattle industry, as well as other animal industries.
